Consensus Poker

Align team priorities without the loudest voice dominating.

Group Consensus Poker is a lightweight, frontend-only tool designed for small teams and project groups. It helps you vote on the priority or complexity of tasks anonymously, ensuring that decisions are made based on collective wisdom, not just the strongest personality in the room.

Select a Priority Level

Think about the current task and select what you believe is the appropriate priority or effort level. Keep your screen hidden from others until it's time to reveal.

How to Use This Tool in Meetings

1

Discuss the Item

The facilitator presents a user story, feature request, or task. The team briefly discusses it to ensure everyone understands the scope and requirements.

2

Estimate Individually

Each team member secretly selects a card above that represents their estimate of the effort, complexity, or priority. No conferring allowed at this stage!

3

Reveal & Discuss

On the count of three, everyone reveals their selected card (e.g., holding up their phone or sharing their screen if using this locally). If estimates wildly differ, the highest and lowest estimators explain their reasoning, followed by another round of voting until consensus is reached.

Why Use Consensus Poker?

Prevents Anchoring Bias

In traditional discussions, the first person to speak often sets the baseline (an 'anchor'). By forcing simultaneous revealing, this app ensures independent thinking is preserved before group discussion begins.

Levels the Playing Field

Strong personalities or senior team members can sometimes inadvertently pressure others to conform to their estimates. Anonymous, simultaneous voting gives juniors and introverts an equal voice.

Reveals Hidden Knowledge

When someone votes surprisingly high or low, it often means they know something the rest of the team missed—perhaps a hidden technical dependency or an easier workaround. The resulting conversation is where the real value lies.

Simplifies Agile Planning

Based on the popular Planning Poker method, this tool strips away complex integrations and accounts, providing just what you need for a quick standup or sprint planning session. No logins, no trackers, just pure consensus building.
